For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me… I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me! -Matt. 25:35-36 (NLT)
Jesus spent His ministry time with those people who were unloved and unwanted. He came not to save the religious, but those who were not welcomed by religion. At Aldersgate, we desire to do as Jesus did. We would rather not wait for the lost to come find us, but to go where the lost are. We desire to be a body that goes where few go to love on those who few love. As a result, Aldersgate has adopted cluster 6 at the Lubbock County Detention Center. We call it the Impact Campus and it exists to move prisoners towards a life of freedom that can only come from the love of our Lord, Jesus Christ. We are passionate about equipping these individuals to be leaders not only in their homes and communities, but also in the Body of Christ! This is done through classes, church services and special events. There are MANY ways to come alongside what God is doing in this ministry! Some individuals may feel that God is calling them to minister inside the jail, whereas other individuals may feel called to an equally important area… serving on the outside!
